BYCII who are marking their second appearance in the Competition took a bye to the First Round and will now take on the Moroccan side that advanced ahead of Union Sportive des Forces Armées of Burkina Faso in the two-legged preliminary round.
The match will be played on the weekend of March 11-13 at the Stade de Marrakech with the return leg expected in Monrovia on the weekend of March 18-20, 2016. The last time the Go Blues participated in the competition was back in March 2013 where they were eliminated at this particular stage by Tanzanian Club AZAM FC after advancing ahead of Johanson of Sierra Leone in the preliminary round. Meanwhile, Liberia Football Association (LFA) champions, Nimba United were again beaten by Cameroon’s Union Sportive de Douala in the return leg of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League on Sunday.
United were excellent in the encounter, but still went down 1-0 after failing to make use of the lion-share of the ball possession they had in the full 90 minutes. The Mountaineers were beaten 3-1 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia 14th February in the first leg of the competition. The latest result means the Liberian outfit bowed on 4-1 aggregate in their debut season of the most prestigious club competition in Africa.
The Mountaineers needed to score three times without conceding any goal to progress to the next round of the competition. Union Sportive de Douala has now qualified to the next round of the CAF Champions league and will meet Egyptian giant Zamalek in the first round.
