In the United States, this is serious stuff. Weah should take serious steps to squash this story by coming to an amicable settlement in this case ASAP. Weah do not want to get the International Media involved...because this could cost him irreparable damage to his high profiled persona, and his ultimate dream of being President of Liberia.
I speak as an authority based on my own personal experiences over the past 30 years as it relates to Child support law in the United States. I have been through the wringer. I've paid astronomical amounts of money through the system to support my children.
I'm not going to delve any further into my personal business...but America does not joke with this type of case, especially if it has been established if he is indeed the father of the child through DNA testing. Now, I know his many many fans and admirers wish this to go away and all will be well....but it doesn't work like that.
This case is NOT about the mother being a "Gold digger" as is being alleged by his handlers and well-wishers. It is about his responsibility to respond to the needs of the child that he helped to create. The case is never about the man or woman's negligence in ownership of their responsibility. The child, in the eyes of the United States Child Support and Custodial Act.... allows the court to enforce the law to the letter; regardless of who the parent is.
Mr. Weah is not the Custodial parent, and as such, he is liable to provide financial security, medical and educational needs of the child based on his income. To determine the amount of his responsibility, the court demands a financial disclosure affidavit from both parents...and based on the income of both parent, will be the arbiter of judgement for or against the non-custodial parent.
This story has been percolating for some time, and I am sure it is going to heighten precisely because of Weah stature and his name recognition. These are the type of cases the media love to jump on. He better try to settle it once and for all.
