Here is the story:
When my uncle died in the US mid 90’s, I was raped by Burgess and have lived with that knowledge and pain ever since.
In 2001, he did not only steal US$20,000.00 from me but also planned to have me killed. Around the same period, upon investigation done, it was discovered that he had falsified the deed to one of my grandmother’s property on Front and Robert streets. On this deed, it was stated that my grandma had given it to his dad, and his dad, Burgess Houston Sr., had signed it over to him in the year 2002. This is not true of course, as his dad died in Newport News Virginia on July 17, 1997, 5 years. It is not possible that Mr. Houston Sr. would sign a document three years after his death as indicated on the death certificate and the deed.
All through the years since, he has been committing fraudulent acts and illegally selling family land and harassing and threatening me and James. His latest action was discovered last year when he faked the signatures of Judge Vinton Holder of the Probate Court and the Curator. After being summoned, he refused to show up in court and got away with it.
He has also been selling family properties and land outside of Monrovia without authority to do so from the legitimate heirs Ellen and Maggie Houston daughters and only surviving heirs of my late grandmother Ellen King Houston.
The current situation is that my grandmother died in interstate, leaving no will, but 3 children of which my mom is one and the surviving eldest. My uncle, the late Burgess Houston, passed away, leaving my mother and her sister as the direct heirs to my grandmother’s properties. This means that in lieu of no will left by my grandmother, all properties should be equally divided between my mother, aunt and the children of their late brother. Instead, the properties have been stolen, looted and plundered by the children of their late brother Burgess Houston Sr.
Burgess Houston Jr, has taken upon himself along with his sister to not only threaten the life of me and my security James Grupee on various occasions, but also trying to steal the inheritance of my mother and thus my inheritance without any legal standing.
Most may wonder why I am using this forum, and it's simple: I have tried to reach out to my elder cousin from the King side of the family but it seems like either he supports Burgess Jr's fraudulent actions or is simply too blind to notice all that he has done to me. Even though some family members may not agree on this medium ie going out in public, I am seriously afraid for my life and of this fight that he is always causing instead of doing the right thing and being decent honest and fair. I came to Liberia for my development project in education for Liberian youth and for my business in providing affordable solar and bio energy to those that can least afford it. I dont have the time, energy nor patience for his threats, thievery and nonsense. I’d much rather deal with it this way, put the truth out there so that his mean actions hopefully will end.
Everything I have stated here, I can prove except for when he raped me in the US, but it did happen, and it’s hard for me to write this, but it's a relief to get it out, as it makes me stronger, and I did nothing wrong.
If anything should happen to me Edwina Jenny Taylor and my security who is taking care of the property, James Grupee, Burgess Houston JR should be investigated thoroughly, due to his many threats on my life and his past attempts to harm me.
Editor’s note: Due to the seriousness of the allegations contained in Edwina’s statement, The Capitol Times contacted Mr. Burgess H. Houston, Jr. for response and this was what he said via mobile yesterday, August 28, 2016:
“This issue is a family problem and we are talking it as families. In fact, the claims made by Edwina have no basis because the property is for my father. But we are in court and I don’t want to make further comments. If Edwina thinks that I offended her in any way, let her use the court instead of the press. However, thanks for contacting me on the issue. I have my lawyers handling the matter in court.”
