Following popular vow by House Speaker Alex Tyler to stifle the proposed quest of Montserrado County Representative, Edwin M. Snowe, to contest a seat for the honorable House of Representatives in Bomi County during the ensuing 2017 legislative and presidential elections, Rep. Snowe has urged Speaker Tyler to make use of his energy by helping his own people instead to resisting the citizens’ call.
Snowe mentioned that Speaker Tyler must help to improve the living conditions of his people instead of resisting the petition from the people. Citizens of District #1 Bomi County recently petitioned the Montserrado County lawmaker for his numerous developmental initiatives in the county. But speaker Tyler, who faces removal pressure from his colleagues in the House, vowed that Snowe can never be elected as representative in Bomi County, describing the quest as weak tactics. “I do not see Snowe as a force. If it is because of his farm, why don’t we take some of the Malaysian and make them lawmakers. That is cheap style employed by politicians,” Tyler said. In reaction to the Speaker’s comment, Representative Snowe told a local radio station that the statement is unfortunate and that the Speaker must focus on delivering the goodies for his people. “The statement from the speaker is funny. Unless I do not contest, I am best suited to win the Bomi County seat next election,” stated a very confident Snowe. “Instead of talking about Snowe, focus on building schools, improve the deplorable health system in Bomi county,” he stated. He emphasized the Speaker must go to Bomi to help identify and fix the homes demolished during the July 26, 2013 celebration without compensation; visit the schools, see the needs and work towards improving the people standard of living. “He must come let us work together instead of telling the citizens to reject me; I have impacted almost all sectors in the county including health, education, and support to the media,” the Montserrado County Representative added.
