Members of MOVEE Elders Council through their chairman Samuel Philips resigned and joined the Alternative National Congress ANC for reasons they gave as disrespect to the Council and lack of party policy.
According to Chairman Philips, MOVEE Political Leader Dr. J. Mills Jones and his party Chairman D. Maxwell Kemayah are administering the affairs of the party outside its governing constitution.
Philips further alleges that J. Mills Jones is an unregistered member of the party who is yet to be endorsed by the Elders Council.
But in its response, Robert Sammie, vice Chairman for Press and Public Affairs for MOVEE mentioned that the group is illegitimate as the party is unaware of the existence of an Elders Council within the party’s structure.
Sammie indicated that “there is no such organ or group within the Movement for Economic Empowerment by the name of Elder Council”.
“Elder Council normally comprise people with distinction and good reputation in society and these guys are not elder council of our party in that they do not have any record of achievement or record of distinction,” he stressed.
According to him, claims by the so called elder council that the Party’s Political leader J. Mills Jones is not a member shows their naivety of the party’s structure and how one becomes a member.
“Let them know now that the chairman of the party is the principal and senior administrative officer of the party responsible for the coordination, supervision and effective implementation of programs and policies”, Sammie narrated.
