The extension is a result of an analysis done to encourage the wider involvement of rural journalists in Union activities.
Individual membership registration fee is US$10; associate members’ registration is U$ 5 while institutional membership is US$100.
The Press Union of Liberia is meanwhile informing all its members that all identification cards obtained in 2015 before the 2015 Congress of the Union will be valid for the next elective Congress.
This decision of the Press Union of Liberia is intended to end the ongoing confusion surrounding the circulation of ID cards with conflicting
life spans. The problem is rooted in the Ebola emergency registration done as part of an exempt policy during a state imposed curfew.
Normally, the accreditation of journalists by the PUL runs from November 1 to January 31 as sanctioned by the Constitution of the Union.
Definitely, there will be no extension of the accreditation period at this point as final membership roster will be published 30 days before Congress in keeping with the PUL Constitution.
“Please note that only members in good standing with respect to payment of dues and are in good moral standings with the Union will be accredited for the 2016 PUL Congress,” the release stated.
In keeping with the aforementioned, the Membership Committee and Leadership of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) are urging all members to take advantage of this extension and update their respective status.
Moreover, the Press Union of Liberia is urging all its members to turnout for the processing of ID cards beginning Monday, September 5, 2016 at the Union's Headquarters. The processing of ID cards will run until, Saturday, 24th September 2016. The Union encourages all interested to call 0886235395 or 0770166781.
In a related development, Nimba County has been tentatively selected as host of the 2016 Congress by the Leadership of the Press Union of Liberia.
