Members of the NTAL has demanded the resignation of the minister on grounds that his ‘brain-trust leadership’ has constantly and persistently violated the constitutional rights of the teachers, other education workers and students at grade schools and vocational institutions throughout the country.
But addressing the regular press briefing at the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) on Capitol Hill in Monrovia yesterday, Minister Werner emphasized that the teacher’s action is been heavily supported by education international.
“This group (education international) is the one supporting these strike actions, in their quest to support teachers union around the world, and they even misinformed the UN special Repotuer about the PPP program”, Werner lamented.
“Several letters addressed to us from teachers and other unions around the world refer to them which mean we are not falsely accusing them”, he indicated.
Education international represents organizations of teachers and other education employees across the globe and it is the world’s largest federation of unions, representing more than thirty-two million education employees in about four hundred organizations in one hundred and seventy countries and territories, across the globe.
The group which promotes and represents the interests of teachers and other education employees on the international level has succeeded in building solidarity and cooperation between them.
The group works with other global federations of unions and other kindred organizations to promote and achieve solidarity.
