Chinese Ambassador to Liberia says his country has adopted an independent non- interference foreign policy across the world.
Ambassador Zhang Yue said China does not obstruct the internal affairs of another country that it has bilateral relationship with. Therefore, China will not interfere in Liberia internal affairs. The Chinese Ambassador made the statement Wednesday in Monrovia when he met a team of journalists. He said his country will remain neutral noting: “it is Liberia’s internal affairs. China has nothing to do with it.” The Chinese ambassador noted that China will observe the process and will respect the decision which will be made by Liberians next year. He noted that China’s friendship will be extended to all parties and wish to make friends and the embassy will give support in whatever way possible to enhance relationship. Ambassador Yue said his country will cooperate with whoever that will be elected by the Liberian people in 2017 elections noting, “his country will remain a friend to Liberia.” He explained that China is in full support of strengthening bilateral cooperation and to also enhance youth exchange programs. The Chinese envoy also noted that his country is trying to diversify its support to countries especially Liberia. Meanwhile the China-aided Capitol Building annex construction has begun. The extension of the capitol building which houses the Liberian legislature followed an agreement signed by both countries in the amount of USD$60 million.
