The Amara M. Konneh Foundation has made several donations to various mosques in four counties. The donation was as a result of a request made to Mr. Amara M. Konneh, Board Chair of the AMK Foundation, during a farewell program in his honor by the Muslim community recently.
Counties benefitting from the AMK Foundation humanitarian gesture include Grand Bassa, Cape Mount, Bomi and Margibi Counties respectively. Making the presentation, the chief spokesman of the Foundation, Mr. Vallai Dorley, who put the total cost of the donation as US$15,000 told Capitol Times that the Foundation was also funding the construction of an ablution area and providing a PA system for the central Mosque in Tubmanburg, while funding a well project for the Mosque in Gbaa, Grand Cape Mount County. In Magibi, Dorley said the AMK Foundation was pleased to provide 200 praying mats and paints for the painting of the Central Mosque in Kakata. The Foundation also provided 100 mats for the mosque in Cape Mount and is currently funding the renovation of the latrine of the Central Mosque in Robertsport. The Foundation also provided a generator and a bundle of zinc to change leaking roofs at the Central Mosque in Sinje. For Grand Bassa County, Dorley said the AMK Foundation was pleased to provide six dozen chairs for the Central Mosque in Buchanan and is funding the renovation for several smaller mosques in the county. Dorley said the Foundation will next week reach other non-Muslim organizations for similar gesture. The Amara M. Konneh Foundation is a humanitarian organization that seeks the welfare of underprivileged and other deserving Liberians for the betterment of their lives. Recently, the foundation donated vehicle to the Imam Council, renovated a Mosque for Muslims prisoners at the Monrovia Central, among several other goodwill gestures in the country. Receiving the item on behalf of the counties, the chief Imam of Liberia Ali Krayee expressed appreciation to the Foundation for the donation. He called on Muslims to see the donation as one that will give them the power to always pray and not to allow the mosque to be empty but rather to encourage Muslims to worship Allah.
