Billed under the theme: “Beautiful Minds” Everything Liberia, Miss Liberia 2016 showcases ten contestants from across the 15 political sub-divisions in Liberia, vying to wear that crown and represent the country at continental and global pageantry levels. Unfortunately, five of the contestants dropped out during auditioning, that’s why the number dwindled to ten, says Mr. Zubin Cooper, head of Marketing and Advertising at 11 Stripes.
Explaining how they came up with the catchy theme, Zubin Cooper tells Capitol Times that the theme not only reflects the physical beauty of the contestants but mainly their intellectual capacities as well.
“Also, we were committed to showcasing the beauty and culture of Liberia. Therefore, when we partnered with XL Entertainment, we added the sub-theme, “Everything Liberian”, Zubin enthused.
The contestants include Eleanor Blessing Bropleh (Grand Kru County), Florence Pitt (Grand Cape Mount County), Antholyn S. Cooper (Bong County), Wokie Dolo (Nimba County) and Alfreda Toomey (Grand Bassa County). Others include Goretti L. Itoka (Maryland County), Tina Finda Nyunkor of Lofa County, Winnie Canneh from Bomi County, Kindnsee Peterlyne Wilson (Grand Gedeh County) and Courage Shiraz of Montserrado County.
11 Stripes says these beautiful and talented ladies after series of auditions are ready to showcase the multifaceted culture and heritage of Liberia, and if anyone of them gets chosen to represent Liberia on the continental and global stages, they will make the nation proud.
In terms of what should be expected at the event, 11 Stripes says the audience at the venue and elsewhere should be prepared for a night of fun and laughter. “It will be a night of entertainment showing off the best of Liberia. It’s music, it's people. Everything Liberian is not just a theme but the essence and motivation behind the entire event,” says a proud Zubin.
Hosted by 11 Stripes, XL Entertainment and Destiny Entertainment Center, Miss Liberia 2016 is sponsored by LibTelCo, Matrix Media (Capitol Fm 89.7, Capitol Insider Magazine and Capitol Times Newspaper); Monrovia Breweries, Kenya Airways, Renault, Afriland Bank, Palmers Cocoa Butter, Body Zone, Bluffa Joe, Masque Lacquer, Boulevard Palace, Luyken Guest House, Coca-Cola and Aminata.
A-list Liberian artists including F.A., Amaze, KCW, Peaches, CIC , J Glo, Dphamous, Da Vero and Mr Smith, will be on hand to spice up the event, while the famous (or should we say “infamous”) Pa Nyononway will crack side-splitting jokes to juice the night.
11 Stripes, Inc., Zubin says, was founded in February 2014 by eleven Liberian business women to promote and market Liberians.
While the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection has also been very helpful in ensuring the success of the Miss Liberia, in terms of keeping paramount the interests and development of the contestants, Zubin says the Government, through the Ministry of Information, has been supportive of the process.
“Minister Nagbe and his staff have been very helpful. Unfortunately, due to constraints, we have not received financial assistance as of yet from government since we won the bid,” he says.
