The Deputy National Secretary General for Research and Records of the Coalition for Democratic Change, Mr. Ronald Mendscole, says the party is not deterred with those resigning to join other political parties ahead of the 2017 elections.
He said, with the combination of the National Patriotic Party and Liberia People Democratic Party, the CDC is stronger than before. According to him, those resignations are minor defections, which he classified as a psychological welfare that has been launched by people who are fighting for run-off position in the October elections. Mendscole noted that their partisans are aware of the psychological warfare; but the defections won’t help their opponents win the elections. He made the disclosure on the April 27, 2017 edition of the Capitol Breakfast Club on Capitol 89.7 FM. Speaking further, Mendscole stated that CDC gives everyone opportunities regardless of status, location or religion. “We do not refer to those who walked away from the party as strong men and women, those who are making the sacrifices are the strong men and women in the CDC. We provide everybody the platform to be someone great, this is what made us the grassroots party, you need not to be renowned before joining the CDC,” he stated. Meanwhile, the CDC Deputy National Secretary General for Research and Records disclosed that Executive Committee of the party will shortly release the guideline for the primaries. “I believe most of the people leaving the party do not trust free, fair and transparent process which they are not willing to subject themselves to for primaries,” he added.
