The latest is three young Liberians with their score of supporters joining the Coalition for Democratic Change in persons of Dr. Samuel Bennett of the Liberty Party; Mathew ‘Fairplay’ Joe, affiliate of Liberty Party; and Samuel Worzie of the Unity Party.
Dr. Samuel Bennett described the CDC as a great party. He said he joined the CDC based on assessment conducted in Grand Bassa County District #5, which signified that CDC is a people-driven party.
“Not to bad mouth the LP, but CDC is prepared to lead this country, the people are willing to support the party. When I was with the LP, I was asked to recruit over 2,000 persons to the party, but when I took the forms to the people, many of them said they are CDCians and cannot go to any other party,” Dr. Bennett stated.
According to him, he also joined the CDC based on a call from the CDC Vice Standard Bearer Senator Jowel Howard-Taylor and a stalwart of the party Janjay Fakpiah, as well as some members of the party how motivated him.
Dr. Bennett disclosed that it is about time George Weah be given the chance to prove himself at the presidency, because, he noted that the Montserrado County Senator knows the importance of security, education and economics.
The former LP man said he supported President Sirleaf in 2011 because he felt at the time she was the best person to lead the country. He later joined the Liberty Party.
For his part, Mathew ‘Fairplay’ Joe, an affiliate of the Liberty Party disclosed that Grand Bassa County is no longer a Charles Brumskine stronghold. He assured his new party that they will go all out to win Grand Bassa.
Mr. Joe further noted that with the reliance of his work n the county, the people of District #3 Grand Bassa County have decided to carry him as the replacement to incumbent lawmaker Gabriel Buchanan Smith.
He said his decision to join the CDC is no mistake, and that the party is the only alternative for Liberians come October 2017. He believes the country can only be delivered through a CDC leadership.
Also joining the party, Samuel Worzie of the Unity Party, said he feels at home to augment the strength of the political Special Forces in the party.
Mr. Worzie said he believes Senator Weah is fully prepared to be president of Liberia.
Welcoming the new partisans to the party, the Chairman of the Coalition for Democratic Change Legislative Caucus, Dr. Bhofal Chambers, informed his new members that the party is a working democratic institution which belongs to the downtrodden masses.
He referred to the new members as formidable force.
