Friends of Our Time noted that this ground breaking event marks the start of several public awareness campaigns to be held in Margibi and Montserrado Counties which target youths of underprivileged communities and first time voters.
A FOOT release quotes Mr. Foday Massaquoi, Secretary of the Non Violent Election Campaign Committee as saying that Cultural Ambassador Julie Endee will serve as Keynote Speaker, while House Speaker Emmanuel Nuquay, will serve as Chief Launcher.
The United Nation Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) Special Representative Secretary General (SRSG), Farid Zarif, will deliver special opening remarks.
According to the release, the Carter Center, Political Parties, the Margibi County Leadership and the National Elections Commission (NEC) will grace the occasion and make opening remarks.
The ceremony will begin with a parade, featuring four leading high schools in Kakata to include Booker Washington Institute, Lango Lippaye, St. Augustine, and George Gibson Methodist School.
Partners also expected to join and to let their voices be heard in the call for peaceful elections include: USAID, UNDP, WORD, NAYMOTE, the Liberia National Police, Motorcyclists and Students.
Meanwhile, FOOT is urging all well-meaning Liberians to join the campaign and let their voices be heard in the national chorus that Liberia’s peace matters in these elections, the release concluded.
