In the first case, a 40 year-old woman has been nabbed for allegedly raping a 14- year old girl in the Airfield Community in Sinkor.
According to the victim (name withheld), the suspect, Marrion Zorh, used an artificial penis to rape her when she went to watch television at the accused residence in the same community.
The victim explained that during the weekend, the suspect asked her to help clean her house. While in the process of cleaning up, the suspect offered her a glass of juice.
The victim explained that few minutes after drinking the juice she felt dizzy and fell asleep.
“After I woke up I saw blood in my underwear and when I asked why she did such a thing to me, she responded that she had developed interest in me amongst the other girls in the neighborhood,” the poor victim narrated.
She further explained that the suspect urged her to keep the matter secret with a promise to provide her with all necessary support; but threatened to kill her if she exposes the matter.
Marrion Zorh has however denied the charges, saying: “this is just a plot designed by my enemies to tarnish my hard-earned reputation; they are envious of me because all the children in the neighborhood are always around me.”
The father of the victim has vowed to pursue all legal action against the suspect for allegedly raping his daughter.
She is currently in detention at the Zone Three Police Depot awaiting court trial.
In the second rape case, the Liberia National Police has reported the arrest and forwarding to court of a 54 year–old blind man, Mr. David Sumo, for allegedly raping and impregnating his 13 year-old step daughter in the Barnard Farm Paynesville community.
The 13- year-old girl told police that she was constantly abused by her step father whenever her mother leaves for business trips outside the city.
Mr Sumo has since been charged with rape, in violation of section 14.70 of the new rape law of 2005.
In another rape saga, a local journalist who is also a school teacher in Greenville, Sinoe County has been arrested in connection with the rape of a 12 year-old girl.
According to police report, the 12 year old girl was allegedly raped when she returned to her study classroom after she had gone to purchase some food items the study class teacher had sent her to buy.
The police say upon returning from purchasing the food items, teacher Patrick Borlue who is also a journalist with Sinoe FM forcibly had sex with the little girl in one of the classrooms.
Mr. Borlue was said to have threatened to kill the little girl if she disclosed the incident to anyone, including her parents.
