It appears that majority of the youth in the country are satisfied with the pronouncement of the Speaker of the House Emmanuel Nuquay as running mate to Standard bearer Vice President Joseph Boakai of the ruling Unity Party.
Exactly two days after the naming of speaker Emmanuel Nuquay as vice standard bearer, a youth organization under the banner “Friends For the Future (3F)” stormed the principal streets of District 14 in quest of pledging their support to the presidential aspirants of the Unity Party. Speaking yesterday in Clara Town at a program marking the official endorsement of the presidential bid of JNB, acting chairman of the organization, Vallai M. Dorley, said since 1944, it is first of its kind that a democratically elected government will be turning over the mantle of authority to another. And as such, it is the responsibility of his organization to provide political consciousness for young people across the country in order to safeguard the peace and stability process in the country. “JNB is the real choice to succeed President Sirleaf. We are satisfied with the team and as such, we have come to pledge our support and campaign for this ticket in making sure that their dream comes to reality”, he added. Responding to the endorsement, Vice President Boakai accepted the endorsement and thanked members of the youth organization for the confidence reposed in him and his Vice Standard Bearer. Recently Vice President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, at the Unity Party headquarter in Congo Town announced House Speaker Emmanuel Nuquay as his running mate in the upcoming elections. According to the Vice President, the decision to announce his running mate involved deep reflection because they needed to be sure that whoever emerges as Vice President must be some one that firmly shares their vision to drive a new agenda in Liberia. “This decision has required deep reflection because we wanted to be very sure that whoever emerges as Vice President or co-pilot to us in this historic election must be some one that firmly shares our vision to drive a new agenda in Liberia, one that genuinely seeks to put serious emphasis on all of our people without discrimination in every aspect of life”, he noted. Vice President Boakai said that his institution believes in youth leadership and as a result, the party has chosen an enterprising and dynamic young man who has demonstrated dedicated leadership in advancing the national interest. Responding to the pronouncement, Speaker Nuquay accepted the nomination and promised to work with the party and its members in ensuring that their goal be met come October of this year. Friends For the Future or 3F is a Monrovia-based organization with more than 5,000 youth membership representing the fifteen political sub-divisions in the country.
