According to the Joint Committee Chairman Prince Moyee, the draft budget in the tune of five hundred twenty six million, five hundred forty eight thousand United States dollars ($US526,548,000) was submitted by the executive following vigorous and thorough scrutiny of the draft national budget by the joint committee.
He said the vetting processing was done in collaboration with the Joint Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Development Planning and Public Account and Expenditure of the plenary, along with the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, line ministries and agencies, LRA and members of the public, in which, over thirty seven million United States dollars (US$37,000,000) was identified as additional and unencumbered revenue.
Of this total amount, he noted eleven million, nine hundred sixty-eight thousand, one hundred eighty-eight United States dollars (U$968,188) is considered as contingent revenue comprising tax, nontax, and the World Bank Millennium Challenge Corporation road fund; while twenty-five million, forty-seven thousand, two hundred forty United States dollars is considered as a core revenue comprising also tax, non tax and the World Bank Millennium Challenge Corporation road fund.
“After all of these adjustments in both core and contingent revenues, we realize a net effect in terms of additional and unencumbered revenue of over 37 million United States dollars; thus bringing the total adjusted revenue for FY 2017/2018 to five hundred sixty-three million, five hundred sixty-three thousand, four hundred twenty-three USD,” he added.
The Bong County Lawmaker said a proposal for the appropriations of the additional thirty seven million USD was submitted by the executive to the joint committee taking into consideration critical needs in the justice and security, health, education, infrastructure and judiciary sector, as well as the pending representatives and presidential election in the country.
