The acting Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Hon. Geevon Wellington Smith, has lashed at presidential aspirants for deviating their attentions from their course of campaign to that of President Sirleaf. “President Sirleaf is not in the race”, he warned.
Speaking to pressmen at the Information Ministry, Hon. Smith said that those claiming to be the messiahs in these elections got their ill-gotten wealth at the expense of innocent lives that were wasted during the wars. “If they cross the red line, we will go into their closets. Most of them lack the moral value to stand before the masses that they have terrorized to elect them”, he warned. Hon Smith reiterated that after the country has been devastated by civil unrest for many years, the 2005 election was a test case for Liberians to elect an impeccable person with vast knowledge on bilateral and multilateral traits, and a judicious judgment was made when President Sirleaf was elected to put the country on the right course. Hon. Smith said that before Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf took over the administration of the country, Liberia was known to be a failed state that cannot cater for the populace, and that forced some people to prefer living in neighboring countries as slaves and refugees. Hon. Smith said that twelve years down the line, the country has been transformed to a better society where every Liberians can boast of being a citizen. “The silence of Liberians must not be misunderstood. If anybody feels that he or she is fit to be elected without focusing on campaigning what you intend to do, then you must be a wishful thinker”, he said.
