Emmanuel Jackson, 24, and Alvin Sayweh, 23, were arrested and charged in January for raping to death a 16-year-old girl who lived in the same community.
Jackson is said to be a relative of the victim, while Sayweh is a friend of Jackson’s.
During the Tuesday, March 22, hearing, the state was represented by Grand Bassa County Attorney Samuel Jacobs, while the defendants were represented by the county’s Public Defender, Cllr. Paul Jarvan along with Cllr. Onesimus Barwon.
Prior to the court trial, the two defendants were placed behind bars at the Upper Buchanan Central Prison, while the corpse of the 16 -year-old victim was deposited at a local funeral home in Buchanan.
The Court is yet to release the victim’s medical report.
It can be recalled that in February this year, the uncle of the alleged rape victim, Emmanuel Thompson, disclosed that the victim died two hours after she was taken to the Government Hospital in Buchanan City, where it was confirmed that she was raped.
