“Today, we have an even greater task confronting us as a county, the task of selecting a vice presidential candidate from Bong County. In our quest to accomplish this, I am calling on all citizens of Bong County both in and outside Liberia to join me in selecting one person from the county that we can all rally around to support for the position of Vice President. I say Vice President because no one in Bong County has expressed interest in the Presidency,” the former Bong County Superintendent and Senatorial aspirant told a group of Bong Citizens in the United States on April 6, 2016.
According to former Superintendent Jackson, he is pushing this line because Bong County, as the third most populated county in Liberia, has never had any of its citizens serve in the position of President or Vice President.
He expressed the hope that for 2017 elections, citizens of Bong County from all walks of life can join hands in selecting one citizen who will occupy that position and then such person, in consultation with other citizens can choose whom he/she would team up with at the 2017 polls.
To accomplish this, Mr. Jackson said he will be consulting with Bong citizens in America and Europe, and results from these engagements will be announced.
The former Bong senatorial candidate said whoever is selected as a result of the consultation will receive his support and those of the general citizenry.
