According to an Executive Mansion press release issued over the weekend, those appointed by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf include, Mr. Milton Weeks, Executive Governor, CBL; Mr. Kolli Tamba, Member, Board of Directors, CBL; Mrs. Elsie Dossen Badio, Member, Board of Directors, CBL; Mr. Boima Kamara, Minister, Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP). The Executive Mansion release indicates that Dr. James F. Kollie, Deputy Minister for Fiscal Affairs at MFDP will be taking a new position soon.
Others appointed to various positions are: Atty. Oretha Snyder Davis, Commissioner, Independent National Commission on Human Rights (INCHR); Atty. James Torh, Commissioner, INCHR.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, those appointed include: Rev. Jervis Witherspoon, Chief of Protocol (replacing Mr. Charles Allen who goes into Diplomatic Service); and Mr. Emmanuel Munyeneh, Assistant Minister for International Cooperation.
The Liberian leader also appointed Mr. Adam Sherif as Deputy Auditor General for Assurance Quality, General Auditing Commission and Sara K. Kullie as Mayor, Voinjama City, Lofa County.
According to a research conducted by this paper, Mr. Weeks is the Managing Director of Devin Corporation. He has worked in numerous African countries (including Liberia, Zambia, Ghana, Malawi, South Africa and Nigeria) with financial institutions in various senior level positions over a period of 25 years before returning to Liberia in 2007 to restart Devin Corporation.
The CBL Executive Governor-designate, according to our research, has a strong base in credit evaluation, financial assessment of corporate entities, financial structuring and financial modeling, and has served as Chief Executive of banks in three Africa countries (Liberia, Malawi and Nigeria). His tested managerial skills have proven a major asset in his varied assignments throughout Africa including negotiation and management in very challenging financial and economic environments. He is a director on numerous corporate boards including Du Investment Corporation, MILCHAR Incorporated, Business Development Services & Incubator, Auriole Enterprises and serves as Chairman of the Board of Safeway Cargo Handling Services.
He is a former Chairman of the Board of the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation (2009-2012), is an Executive Council Member of the Liberia Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Liberia. Mr Weeks also currently serves as Assistant Governor for Liberia for Rotary International District 9101. He is an Honorary Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Nigeria; Fellow of the Institute of Credit & Risk Management, Nigeria and Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration, Nigeria.
