According to the Liberian leader, a high level of focus and discipline exhibited by the outgoing Finance Minister has served as bridge between goals and achievements of numerous development deliverables of the government.
Speaking yesterday during an honoring ceremony held in the Cecil Dennis Auditorium at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Monrovia, President Johnson Sirleaf described outgoing Minister Konneh as a selfless, hardworking and honest public servant that served with distinction.
Minister Konneh had worked enough, denied self and demonstrated intelligence, commitment in the discharge of his function which has benefited the country immensely, evidenced of the high level of support from the international community.
“Minister Konneh has verified the need for the public to care less of selves and work hard to achieve the many deliverables earmarked by the government of Liberia,” the Liberian leader intoned.
For his part, Minister Konneh thanked the Liberian leader for the confidence reposed in him as a young man to serve such a distinguished capacity as Minister of Finance and Development Planning for as long as he has served.
“Together, under the leadership of our president, we have made major strides on our nation’s long journey towards economic and human development,” Konneh said.
He mentioned that “we have paved most of the major thoroughfares that take Liberians from home to work, and from farm to market; we have made significant headway in building electricity generation, transmission and distribution capacity and laid the legal and structural groundwork for public financial management and reforms and result oriented budgeting”.
