Making the disclosure over the weekend, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Zhang Yue said the amount is intended to strengthen the agriculture project because he believes that agriculture is important in making the Liberian economic viable.
He said because agriculture plays a vital role in every nation’s economy, the Chinese Government is playing a pivotal role in promoting the agriculture sector in Liberia to enhance national economic growth.
Speaking at programs marking the graduation of 15 Liberians from rotten bamboo weaving and vegetable productions, Ambassador Yue said he will invite Chinese entrepreneurs to Liberia and invest in the area of hydrological, fisheries and food production as well as many other areas.
He said the bamboo production initiative is purely Liberian made, and that citizens must be proud that their products have been transformed from raw materials to finished products in a special way.
At the same time, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf extolled the Government of China for their continual support to Liberia especially in the agriculture sector which has created jobs for many Liberians.
President Sirleaf said she is proud that Liberian product can be manufactured by Liberians in a special finished product.
She called on the Liberian people to take agriculture seriously as no nation can survive easily without being self-sufficient in food production.
