Nuquay said of the total number of legislations ratified by the body, 68 were enacted during the regular sitting of the House, while 12 were ratified during the House's special sitting.
It can be recalled that President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf requested an extension of the 5th session of the 53rd Legislature for a period of one month to act on important instruments aimed at amassing significant benefits for the people of Liberia.
The House Speaker noted that those legislations that were enacted by the House are also intended to provide basic social services and improve the lives of the Liberian people.
Prominent among the 80 legislations, Nuquay named An Act to Ratify the Loan Agreement between Liberia and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa for the Gbangar-Salayea road project and the Domestic Violence Act of Liberia.
He also named an Act to Approve the National Budget for the fiscal period beginning July 1, 2016 and ending June 30, 2017; providing for the Expenditure of the Government of Liberia, as well as an Act to Ratify the Financing Agreement between the Republic of Liberia and the International Development Association.
Nuquay disclosed that the House also ratified an Act Adopting the Security and Exchange Commission of Liberia, an Act Adopting the Security and Exchange Depositories of Liberia 2016 and an Act Adopting the Central Security Depositories of Liberia 2016.
He also named the Liberia Tax Amendment Act of 2016 amending the Liberia Revenue Code, an Act for the Establishment of the Gola National Park and an Act to Establish the Liberia Rubber Fund, as among bills passed by the House.
