According to an Executive Mansion release, Cabinet on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 was abreast of strategic attainable deliverables emanating out of the President’s Annual Message per sector ministries in partnership with an aggressive and well packaged communication strategies for public consumption. Cabinet approved the Implementation Plan for the President Sirleaf’s 2016 Annual Message and mandated that the Plan be realigned in concise and target-specific context.
Regarding updates on health-related matters; the Cabinet analyzed the revised National Community Health Policy; Financing Plan for the Health Sector and a comprehensive Fleet Management Plan for the Health Sector. The Cabinet endorsed the Financing Plan for the Health Sector/Fleet Management Plan for the Health Sector, but tabled the Health Financing. The Cabinet as well constituted a Sub-Committee on Health to carefully examine and analyze the applicability and feasibility of the proposal.
Those named to the Sub-Committee on Health include the Ministers of Finance, Foreign Affairs, Health, Internal Affairs, Commerce, the Legal Adviser to the President as well as other key state actors and stakeholders in the health sector. Cabinet further directed the Sub-Committee to work in close concert with the Justice Ministry to ensure all relevant legal formalities are exhaustively examined and explored.
Meanwhile, Cabinet also reviewed updates on Labor Force and Human Rights Surveys and has directed the need for expanded and detailed discussions regarding the matter with a view to incorporating an all-encompassing participation and input that will translate successful surveys.
In a related development, Cabinet has set February 25 and 26, 2016 as dates for Cabinet Retreat slated for Bomi County, outside Monrovia. The essence of the Retreat shall critically examine the agenda set for specific Ministries and Agencies that will ensure specific targets set are quantifiable, time-bound and achievable. Cabinet also mandated the presence of Ministers and their principal deputies to be in attendance.
