In a communication accompanying the agreement, President Sirleaf noted that the instrument is intended to help Government realize its goals and objectives in the effective implementation of the Economic Stabilization Recovery Plan.
The agreement according to her, will enable Liberia participate in programs designed to strengthen weak human health, animal health and disaster response systems to improve the preparedness of the West African region to handle future epidemics thereby minimizing the national, regional, and potential global effects of disease outbreaks.
When ratified, President Sirleaf indicated that the financing legislation will enable government achieve the targeted objectives and improve the economic conditions that will help make Liberia adequately combat disease outbreaks and contribute to the regional effort of reducing vulnerability in disease outbreak.
Having presented an overview of the agreement, the Liberian leader then requested a timely ratification of the instrument for the purpose of enhancing government's operations.
Meanwhile, both Houses of the Legislature has forded the agreement to its relevant committees for thorough perusal and subsequent advise to various Plenary.
