The delegation, which is in the country as a guest of the Liberian Foreign Service Institute (FSI), was accompanied to the Commission by FSI Director General Dr. Augustine Konneh.
In remarks, NEC chairman Jerome Korkoya thanked the delegation for the recognition. Using the occasion to brief the Nigerians on the current state of the 2017 election process, Chairman Korkoya emphasized the need to have informed Liberian electorates to avoid electoral malpractices.
Speaking on the Legal Framework of the Commission, Cllr. Korkoya said the NEC will continue to work within the confines of the law. He also spoke on the current Candidate Nomination process, the Code of Conduct, the 30% women representation in political parties and the direct funding from the Liberian Government.
Chairman Korkoyaalso spoke of financial assistance from the United States Agency for International Development, USAID, United Nations Development Program, UNDP, African Union, ECOWAS, and the Carter Center among others.
