Speaking during the 3rd edition of the Chinese Ambassador’s annual Table Tennis tournament held at the auditorium of the University of Liberia on Wednesday, Amb. Yue said that China is helping Liberians to build themselves through international and local scholarships.
Amb. Yue said China has provided over 70 international and 1,400 local scholarships for Liberian students over the past years.
Ambassador Yue disclosed the intension of the Chinese government is to provide more scholarships for Liberians next year to enhance the country’s capacity building programs, and emphasized that sport is one of the disciplines that maintains good partnership with countries
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Saah N’tow said China partnership with Liberia is quite resourceful; noting that they have done many good things for Liberia which are significantly empowering Liberians.
China-Liberia relations have seen both countries benefit from mutual trade and commerce.
The Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Liberia, Dr. William E. Allen, said the continuous relationship between China and Liberia has led to the establishment of the Confucius Institute of Cultural Exchange where Liberians have benefited from the culture of China.
Dr. Williams admonished Ambassador Yue to continue the boosting of the educational sector in the country.
