Presidential aspirant and Margibi County Senator Oscar Cooper says the participation of parents and teachers in the education of children is an essential input for quality education in the country.
Senator Cooper wants parents to be largely involved with the day-to-day running of schools across the country and not rely on school administrations alone.
The Margibi County Senator noted that when this is done, parents will understand challenges facing their children and the school administrations and that will help to collaborate with the administrations to find remedies to such challenges.
Senator Cooper explained that if education must be improved in Liberia, Parents Teachers Associations (PTAs) must play a pivotal role in the running of schools.
Senator Cooper made the call when he served as Guest Speaker at the 5th graduation and closing exercises of the Bethany Lutheran School in Suakoko District, Bong County recently.
Following his address, Senator Cooper gave L$100,000 to graduates of the kindergarten division to complement their tuitions and pledged his continued support to the school.
