Senator Thomas Grupee said his committee is working through various structures, including traditional leaders in the counties, to spread the message of genuine reconciliation among Liberians.
He made the statement recently at the induction of Panta District Commissioner Dakeh Paye in Foquelleh, Bong County.
Senator Grupee noted that although the government is capable of taking care of security after the drawdown of U.N. troops, it was important for Liberians to reconcile their differences in order to sustain the peace the country now enjoys.
The Nimba County Senator stressed that genuine reconciliation among Liberians will put aside hatred, envy and other vices that have the propensity to divide the country.
He urged Liberians, as a resilient people, to continue to work together in sustaining the country’s peace and development, even after the departure of the U.N. Mission in Liberia (UNMIL).
