The Government of Liberia has announced a joint verification of vehicle registration, driver licenses and insurance documents in Monrovia and its environs beginning Tuesday, February 23.
In an interview with the Liberia News Agency Monday, the Director of Press and Public Affairs at the Ministry of Transport, Samuel G. Barijbo, said the inspection and enforcement exercise will b carried out by the Ministry of Transport, Liberia National Police and the Liberia Revenue Authority. According to Barjibo, this year’s enforcement exercise will be conducted at seven checkpoints with measures put in place to ease traffic congestion as well as to avoid multiple inspections of the same vehicle after it has been cleared. Meanwhile, Mr. Barjibo has called on vehicle owners to have their vehicle registration and driver licenses updated to avoid embarrassment. He noted that any vehicle found not to be in compliance will be impounded until all formalities have been completed.
