Journalists Davies was a staff of the In-Profile Daily and Freeman, a Vai language announcer at the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS).
Davies died Friday, May 20, in Bomi County, while en route for treatment, while Freeman died on Sunday, May 22, after a brief illness.
Both journalists have since been buried in keeping Islamic tradition.
Mr. Davies was a young and calm but aggressive reporter always willing to
meticulously tell the story.
Freeman started his career as a regular mainstream reporter covering active community and national governance issues until he proved well-suited for the presentation of the Vai Language program at the state radio.
According to PUL President K. Abdullai Kamara, the two journalists will be remembered for their contributions to the wellbeing of the ordinary people and the governance of Liberia.
“The passing of our two colleagues cannot go by without recognizing their fortitude to do journalism in a small media economy such as Liberia,” Kamara added.
