He furthered, “the LTA has abandoned its functions contained in part 3, section 11, sub-section 1d of the Act of legislation which created the entity.
“Part 3, section 11, sub-section 1d of the Act which created the LTA says its functions and operation shall have the capacity and responsibility under this Act to monitor and enforce compliance by licensees with the conditions of their licenses”, the lawmaker lamented, adding, one of the functions of the LTA is to promote the interests of consumers and operators as regards the quality of communication services and equipment.
He intoned that there is a widespread dissatisfaction with the general telecom sector in Liberia among users as well as policy decision makers and administrators.
“In recent times, there have been more customer complaints about poor service quality and attested to from the various voice qualities and reduced credit time,” he averred.
He further alleges that the LTA has prioritized revenue generation to quality service at the expense of the Liberian citizens, therefore prompt action is required.
Meanwhile, a specialized committee was immediately constituted with the mandate to ensure that the Board of Commissioners and head of the LTA appear before plenary in two weeks.
