The Membership Committee and Leadership of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) have announced the extension of the Union’s ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION/ACCREDITATION process till July 30, 2016.
The extension is a result of a 7th April, 2016 Executive Committee Meeting that mandated the extra time due to legal bottlenecks created by an injunction filed against the Press Union of Liberia by-election for Secretary General in November 2015. Normally, the accreditation of journalists by the PUL runs from November 1 to January 31 as sanctioned by the Constitution of the Union. Definitely, there will be no extension of the accreditation period as final membership roster will be published thirty (30) days before Congress in keeping with the PUL Constitution. Please note that only members with updated records, are paying dues and are in good moral standings with the Union will be accredited for the 2016 PUL Congress, the Union said. In keeping with the aforementioned, the Membership Committee and Leadership of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) have called on all members to regularize their status with the Union far before Congress in November 2016. Meanwhile, the Membership Committee of PUL has set June 15, 2016 for Membership Drive intended to motivate the regularization of status and registration. The PUL is urging all its members and those seeking membership to upgrade their personal information as part of the membership reactivation scheme, to do so. Institutional members will be certificated at the end of the registration process in November 2016. Journalists can also obtain the membership application form on the PUL website at www.pul.org.lr. Journalists in rural areas are advised to attach a clear passport size photo (and an affixed signature on a separate sheet) to the form. Aspiring/new members are advised to attach a membership application letter addressed to: Daniel Nyakonah, Jr., Acting Secretary General, Press Union of Liberia. Those in rural communities desirous of taking up membership with the Press Union of Liberia can do so by contacting: Clarence Jackson, 0886458902; the Leadership of ALICOR, 0886593090; Kennedy Domah, 0886481724. Individual membership registration fee is US$10; associate members’ registration is U$5 while institutional membership is US$100. Meanwhile, due payments are an important membership obligation to the PUL. For further information you can call 0886235395 or 0770166781.
